Born and raised by a happy family of bears in a national park that cannot be named because of licensing issues.
Always different from the other bears – while they all liked to break into cars or dumpsters for food I preferred to break into the gift shops and take all the books and maps.
I always smiled a lot. I guess this isn’t a good thing in park bears. My mom said that if I didn’t stop smiling my face would freeze that way! I smiled as hard as I could all night and the next day a big smile was frozen on my face. Yahoo!
I knew my world was beautiful but I yearned for more. Reading all the books and maps had given me a look at a much bigger world.
One day late this last summer I hid away in a trailer belonging to a really nice couple of humans from up north. When I woke up here in Yuma, it was right outside the library.
I sure scared lots of folks when I first showed up in the library. I guess my big smile and love of books has won them over. I get to live here in the libraries of Yuma County. I also get to share my love of reading and exploring new worlds.
Look for me, Booker Bear at any branch of the Yuma County Library District.
