Why Literacy?

*Literacy is more important in the Information Age than ever before. The Internet holds immense potential for the future... but only to those who can read.

Poor reading, writing and speaking skills limit a person's opportunities for the "Pursuit of Happiness" that our Founding Fathers held dear. Imagine how different your life would be if you couldn't read or understand job applications, newspapers, instruction manuals, prescription labels, menus, street signs, and legal documents.

Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona fosters literacy

Literacy: "...an individual's ability to read, write, and speak... and compute and solve problems at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society, and to achieve one's goals, and develop one's knowledge and potential."
